AN EXPERIMENT TO FORECAST THE SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE FIELD ON THE EAST SEA OF VIETNAM USING THE ENSO INDEX

Abstract

This study experimentally forecasts the sea surface temperature (SST) on the East Sea of Viet Nam using ENSO index. The SST field is analyzed with the ENSO index to predict 5 years from 2015 - 2019. The result in boreal winter monsoon (in January), the forecasting SST field is simulated with a temperature of 20 - 22⁰C, is lower than observation data, and appears in the longitude direction along the East Sea of Vietnam extending to the South belongs to Malaysia - Indonesia. In contrast, in boreal summer monsoon, the forecasting SST field is higher than observation data, the positive SST anomaly regional is over a large area in the Southern sea, moves from the Bay of Bengal to Eastward and outspreads up to 20⁰N latitude.
