RESEARCH TO PROPOSE CONTRUCTION SOLUTIONS TO CONTROL FLOODING IN BAN THACH RIVER BASIN OF PHU YEN PROVINCE

Abstract

This paper presents the results of research and proposes solutions for flood control works in the Ban Thach river basin. Using MIKE FLOOD model to simulate inundation, combine with field survey and collect opinions of local people as a basis to propose solutions for flood control works. Simulate flooding in the case of a structure, and then compare it with the flood result in the absence of a structure, to see the effectiveness and suitability of the structure. The results show that flood control works in the downstream area of Ba River - Ban Thach are not capable of controlling floods with a flood 5% frequency (H _{Cung Son} = 38.20 m), but they are effective in preventing floods from overflowing Ba River to with floods of less than 10% frequency (H _{Cung Son} = 37.08 m).
