SIMULATION OF EROSION PROGRESSING ON NHA TRANG COAST DUE TO IMPACTS OF DAMREY TYPHOON

Abstract

In recent years, erosion on coast of Nha Trang has been complicated by impact of typhoons which has caused very serious erosion and damaged many infrastructures and houses. This researching Mike 21 model was applied to simulate erosion and accretion in Nha Trang bay which was impacted by high waves, storm surge, high tide to erosion during Damrey typhoon. Topography and geomorphology maps in Nha Trang bay and meteorology, hydrology and ocean data of Khanh Hoa province were collected to establish Mike 21 model. In addition, the output of Mike 11, ROMs and Mike 21 Toolbox models was connected to Mike 21 model to enhance ability of simulation. The results simulated the erosion intensity on coast of Nha Trang bay which is showed the strong erosion areas from Yen Phi park to Yasaka hotel and from the old Vinpearl port to Bao Dai palace.
