AN APPLICATION OF USING GOOGLE EARTH ENGINE PLATFORM TO BUILT DROUGHT ZONING MAP FOR BINH THUAN PROVINCE

Abstract

The study uses the cloud-based platform Google Earth Engine (GEE) to build a map of drought severity in Binh Thuan province from 2014 to 2020, based on the calculation of the drought difference index NDDI - 2020 (Normalized Difference Drought Index). From the research showed that drought and lack of water in the dry season occurs in many places in the province; regularly out in Tuy Phong, Bac Binh and districts of Phan Thiet City, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Tan and La Gi Town, where the NDDI index is high from 4 to 6, drought level tends to increase especially severely in 2016. Applying Google Earth Engine platform to monitor drought drought on the basis of NDDI index classification of Binh Thuan province in 2021
