ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF FLOODED RESIDENTIAL LAND CAUSED BY STORM SURGE DURING SUPER TYPHOON UNDER DIFFERENT SCENARIOS IN HA LONG CITY

Abstract
The study uses meteorological and hydrological data, storms, current land use and local reports on houses in Ha Long city. The study further utilize models to perform simulation to create flood risk maps due to storm surges under strong and super typhoon scenarios. In addition, the study combines GIS analysis and calculation to determine the percentage of land area flooded by storm surges at different levels. These results could be used for storm surge house damage assessments provided the information on the number of houses in different classes and levels of investment. The results show that Tran Hung Dao ward has the highest proportion of flooded residential land in all super typhoon scenarios.
