Abstract

In the trend of global integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the application of technology in various fields is encouraged by the State, and the financial sector is no exception, the term ‘Fintech’ (financial technology) is widely known than ever. Particularly, non-cash payment is outstanding with such benefits as ensuring safety and transparency in money transfer and amplifying the money supply in the economy. Among non-cash payment methods, mobile payment is growing strongly and receiving attention from investors, which can be seen in two noticeable deals: 300 million USD invested in VNPay and 100 million USD in Momo. It is obvious that mobile payments have been and will thrive in the near future. The proposed research model is built based on the theoretical model UTAUT and TPR. The research has been conducted with students from universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City and done through two phases: preliminary research (qualitative method) and official research (quantitative method). As analyzing and testing with the linear regression method, results showed that there are 05 factors affecting the behavior of using mobile payments which are, in descending of impact level, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Risk, Social Influence, Promotions, and Perceived Usefulness. Among those factors, Perceived Risk has a negative impact on research behavior. From the results obtained, suggestions and solutions are given to mobile payment developers to attract more users, enhance customer satisfaction and develop new paying habits for students in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and other potential consumers in general.
