Factors related to accessibility of ehabilitation services for people with disabilities
Abstract
Background: There are many rehabilitation services available for people with disabilities (PWD). However, PWDs still face many barriers in getting access to these services. In recent years, in Viet Nam, provision of rehabilitation services has made progress but several factors related to access to services of PWDs need to be considered. Objective: To find out factors related to access to rehabilitation services of PWDs. Method: Cross-sectional study was conducted for two years on 2,318 PWDs in eight communes in Ha Noi, Hai Phong, and Nam Dinh representing geographic areas of the Red River Delta. Results: The study findings show that factors related to access to rehabilitation services for PWDs include a geographic factor, the need for assistance and medical intervention, and access to information about disabilities. Recommendation: To enhance the investment resources and the capacity of medical staff on rehabilitation at different levels, especially at commune and district levels; improve access to information and rehabilitation services for PWDs.
