The fact and factors related to the condom use self-confidence in high school students at Quoc Oai District, Ha Noi 2013
Abstract
Nowaday, early sexual realtions lead to unwanted pregnancy and abortion in adolescents that are increasing. The reason are unsafe sex, not using a condom when having sex. This study was done in a high school in Quoc Oai district, Hanoi to find out the situation and factors related to the condom use self-conference. Applying cross sectional design, data were collected through 207 high school students by self administered questionaire. Results: The rate of students think that use condom does not affect sexual pleasure, sexual arousal is only 35.3% and 28.1%. More than half of students said that use condom would affect the mutual trust 60.5% think it is comfortable to buy condoms but only 45.4% will carry condoms when they need to use. About intention to use condoms, 53.2% think not to have sex without using condoms and 51.2% students are not sure to use condom during sex. Factors found to be related to condom use self-efficacy are gender, marital status of parents, people who live together students; knowledge about condoms and safe sex. The research results will be used to develop intervention to increase safe sex among adolescents.
