Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder is currently considered as an emerging public health problem. Early identification enables early intervention, which leads to better outcomes. In the context of lack of developmental and autism screening for young children in Vietnam, Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population developed a365.vn, a web-based platform to support screening and early identification of developmental disorders and autism for children from 9 to 48 months of age. Since its launch just over 2 years ago, over 7,618 tests have been administered using the system from 59 out of 63 provinces and cities nation-wide. Initial results show that such an on-line screening model is a feasible and economical innovation for early identification of developmental disorders and autism in Vietnam, and helps children with such conditions receive the therapies they need at the most appropriate time.
