A Case Study to review working condition improvement in WISH Program for Binh Yen Aluminium Recycling Village, Nam Dinh Province
Abstract
Working conditions play an important role in ensuring workers' safety. However, the current situation shows that working conditions in craft villages have many potential risk factors. This study aimed to review working condition improvement in Binh Yen Aluminum Recycling Village, Nam Dinh Province. Community-based intervention trial was conducted from 2015 to 2016 on 20 aluminum recycling households in Binh Yen village, Nam Dinh province. The WISH program was applied to improve working conditions. Field observation was used to monitor change. The results show that after 12 months of intervention, working condition improvement successful rate reached 69.8%. The highest improvement rate was found with the working environment group - 75.7%, while lowest one was found with the design of working place group - 58.8%. The WISH program should be expanded on a broader scale, as well as to assess changes in the health indicators of workers.
