Abstract
Cross-sectional study was conducted with ethnic minority midwives (EMMs) after attending training course on safemotherhood in Kon Tum Province. The study used self-administration survey method in order to assess the knowledge of EMMs on safe motherhood care. The assessment of EMM’s competency skills were observed on the model by obstetric experts. There were 99 EMMs in Kon Tum province participated in the study. Research results show that EMMs knowledge on prenatal and postnatal care was better than their knowledge on intrapartum care. EMMs’practices in antenatal care was better than ones in intra and postnatal care. The EMMs should update information on safe motherhood regularly (focusing on diagnosis, first aid and safe referal those mothers who had risks) by participating in maternal and child health care activities at commune health centers.
