CHANGES ON KNOWLEDGE OF "HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE" INTERVENTION FOR MOTHERS WITH UNDER -2 YEAR – OLD CHILDREN AT TAM THANH WARD - VU BAN DISTRICT - NAM DINH PROVINCE
Abstract
Hand, foot and mouth disease is contagious and dangerous to children. Its outbreak and spread is much concerned in mothers’ knowledge of this disease. Aims: Assessing the intervention effect of an intervention by media education on knowledge and prevent of "hand, foot and mouth disease" of mothers who have children under 2 years at Tam thanh ward, Vu ban district, Nam dinh province. Methods: The intervention study one group before and after base on one cohort group included 194 women. Education program's content includes four components: transmission ways, agents, block receptors; distinguished from other diseases with similar expression; what to do if child are sick; knowledge about disease prevention. Results: A significant increase in statistics on average points of answers to a set of questions after intervention and 3 months of intervention compared to pre-intervention in such an order as: 25,1 pts, 22,8 pts, compared with 5,4 pts (p<0,01). Conclusion: After intervention, a proportion of mothers with right knowledge of intervention contents is significantly increased and this proportion remains after 3 months of intervention.
