Abstract

Passive smoking is harmful to health. This cross-sectional study aims to explore knowledge and attitudes of students and staff of Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) on Tobacco Control Law, the school’s smoke–free regulation, harmful effects of SHS to health, and supports for Tobacco Control Law enforcement. Results show that HSPH students and staff highly complied with smoke-free regulation at both study phases (compliance rate increased from 87.1% in phase 1 to 95.8% in phase 2 among students and from 94.3% to 98.2% among staff). More than 95% of students and staff had good knowledge on harmful effects of SHS to health and the proportion increased in phase 2 in both student and staff groups. At the HSPH, the proportion of students and staff violated smoke-free policy was low (less than 10% at all settings).
