Knowledge of staff on social health line early detection disabled child under 6 years

Abstract

    The study "Knowledge, attitude and practice on early detection of disabilities in children under 6 years old of the communal health workers (CHWs) in Hoai Duc District, Hanoi 2014" was made to figure out the status of early detection of disabilities in this district; which to describe and evaluate knowledge of the communal health workers on early detection of disability is very important. By 259 quantitative interviews with the CHW in Hoai Duc, the results showed that the percentage of CHW have basic knowledge about early detection reached 69.5%. The rate of health workers with good knowledge in early identification of all disdability types is quite low, especially neuro-psychiatric disabilty. Factors that related to knowledge of health workers on early disability detection are: (i) age group, (ii) participation in community – based rehabilitation (CBR), (iii) work experience in health and (iv) working level (village or commune). Findings in the study suggested that there was a need to increase knowledge on early disability detection for CHWs) with the foccus on village health workers, health workers under 40 of age, 10 years plus of working experience in health care and np participation in CBR.
