Curriculum in information and library science at some training institutions in the southern region: Content analysis

Abstract

    Currently, in the southern region of Vietnam, there are four institutions offering undergraduate programs in Information and Library Science: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture; Saigon University; and Can Tho University. These are all public universities in Vietnam. To analyze the Information and Library Science programs at these universities, this study employs content analysis of the training program descriptions found on the websites of the respective institutions. The research results show differences in the content of mandatory and elective courses, the total number of credits required for graduation, and several other aspects of the training programs among the universities.
