Abstract

The research presents the results of assessing the digital literacy of university library staffs in Ho Chi Minh City in communication and collaboration in the digital environment; digital content creation and capacity in management, operation, development of digital library and information products and services. The quantitative study was conducted using three competency groups within UNESCO's Digital Literacy Global Framework through an online survey of 139 university library staff in Ho Chi Minh City. The results show that the digital competency levels in these three groups of university library staff in Vietnam are mostly in high level. However, there are differences among the staffs, especially in programming skills and the application of new technologies in library information activities. The research highlights the relationship between communication and collaboration competencies as well as digital content creation in managing, operating, and developing digital library services and products. The study also demonstrates positive signals regarding digital competencies and the adaptive capacity of university library staff to societal and professional changes.
