Application of classification symbols in some fields

Abstract

    Classification is the activity of dividing and arranging objects, phenomena or information in a systematic order. Document classification is a subject in the training program of Information-Library and Information Management of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. To help learners have a multidisciplinary perspective when acquiring new knowledge, the article uses the exploratory research method to study the use of classification symbols in a number of fields. The article points out the location, meaning, guidance documents and structure of some common classification symbols in life including: book classification symbols in the field of information-library, ID card codes in the field of Security-Order, health insurance card codes in the field of Health and national postal codes in the field of Posts and Telecommunications. On that basis, the comparison of symbols as well as the basis for creating classification symbols between the information-library field and other fields is also presented in the article.
