Creating index of non-fiction works: current status and impact factors

Abstract

The index is considered to be an integral part of every non-fiction book published by prestigious publishers around the world, but for books published in Vietnam, the index has not been popular yet. This article clarifies the real situation of building and using the index in non-fiction books published in Vietnam. Based on identification and evaluation of factors affecting the index creation and use, the study makes a number of recommendations to promote the compilation, publication and use of indexes in Vietnam.
