Abstract

Abstract: The prevalent utilization of steel frame structures in various residential projects offers numerous outstanding advantages. Methods for floor structures in steel frame buildings encompass several options: cast-inplace reinforced concrete floors, cast-in-place composite steel-concrete floors, prefabricated concrete panel floors, lightweight concrete floors and others... For each type of floor, the configuration and connection arrangement between the floor and steel beams significantly influence the structural interaction between these elements, consequently affecting the selection of floor spans (the spacing between steel beams) and the cross-sectional area of the steel beams. This article elucidates the impact of the aforementioned floor types on the behavior of steel beams under equivalent loading conditions, assuming uniform column grid layouts across residential projects.
