Develop a preliminary calculation tool for the width of the wind zone behind architectural works

Abstract

Abstract: In the design stages, datas on the wind field surrounding architecture construction are important bases to designers to propose planning and architecture design solutions. One of those datas is the size of the recirculating flow zone behind the constructions. This article focus on researching and simulating by AutoDesk CFD to determine the recirculating flow zone size data set of 43 cases of buildings with typical rectangular plans (in size and direction of wind to the constructions). From the above data set, the article has built a preliminary calculation tool for the width of recirculating flow zone by Microsoft Excel. With this tool, the designers can quickly determine the preliminary size of the recirculating flow zone behind the constructions.
