SOME URBAN DRAINAGE SOLUTIONS ADAPTED TO CLIMATE CHANGE: EXPERIENCES FROM THE MEKONG DELTA REGION

Abstract

Abstract: Climate change is increasing the frequency
and intensity of extreme weather phenomena such as heavy
rainfall, flooding, and sea level rise, placing significant
pressure on urban drainage systems in Vietnam and many
other countries. This article analyzes several urban drainage
solutions in the Mekong Delta region to enhance adaptation
to climate change and mitigate flooding. Based on this, the
study proposes several solutions and recommends that cities
should integrate climate risk analysis into planning and
prioritize investment in sustainable drainage models in the
future
