Cuộc điều tra về lỗi phát âm trong tiếng Anh của sinh viên chuyên ngữ trường Đại học Cửu Long

Abstract

The research was conducted to examine English pronunciation errors that students experienced at Mekong University, Participants were 57 sophomores majoring in English at Mekong University and taking part in an English pronunciation course. Data colleted from the two tasks: students’ audio files recorded at home and video files recorded in classs. The study results reveals that the students have the most difficulty in pronouncing the English fricatives N, /3/, the affricates /t∫/ and /d3/ and dental fricatives /ɵ/ as well as vowels such as /{/./0/ ./2/ và /i/. Several pedagogical implications were suggested for better quality of English pronunciation in academic environment in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam in genera and at Mekong University in particular.
