SIMULATION OF SECONDARY ARC ON TRANSMISSION LINE
Keywords:
Arc secondary, model arc, single phase to earth fault, SPAR.
Abstract
This paper presents a model for modelling of arc discharge phenomenon
on transmission lines, focusing on using a dynamic model to determine arc
parameters according to the Caissie-Mayr methods. The model allows
calculation of current, voltage, conductivity, and other parameters of the arc,
considering the case of a single phase to earth fault on a 500kV transmission
line. When the circuit breaker operates to clear the fault phase, the secondary
arc appears at the fault location. The value of the secondary arc current plays
a decisive role in the successful reclosing of a single-phase auto-reclosure
(SPAR) on the transmission grid.
