Abstract

This paper experimentally investigates the heat transfer of a submerged
impinging jet stream configuration to a heated flat metal plate surface. A water
jet stream is carried out horizontally through a mica tube with an inner diameter
of D = 10 mm onto the surface of a metal plate of copper material placed vertically
and submerged in an aqueous medium. The temperature field at the surface of
the metal plate is investigated through an infrared thermal imaging camera.
From there, the results are used to calculate and plot the Nusselt coefficient
relationship according to the ratio of the radial coordinate to the nozzle diameter
(r/D) corresponding to cases where the ratio of injection distance to pipe diameter
and Reynolds number is different. Discussions of the influence of several
parameters on the heat transfer of this jet configuration are discussed.
