APPLICATION OF CONTROLLED SWITCHING DEVICES SYNCHRO - TEQ TO VIETNAM POWER SYSTEM: RESULTS AND PROPECTIVES

Abstract

The application of controlled switching device (CSD) in order to mitigate
influence of transient when energizing/de-energizing reactance loads has been
taken into account by electric utilities for years. This paper is devoted to analyse
the point on wave method, challenges of choosing parameters for controlled
switching devices. The commissioning results analyses to shunt reactor circuit
breakers and capacitor bank circuit breakers at substations in Vietnam power
system have showed that the CSD (Synchro Teq-Vizimax product) had effectively
mitigated the re-iginition, the inrush current, as well as transient in the system.
It could be applied to transformers in order to reduce inrush current in Vietnam
power system.
