BLOCKCHAIN IN FOREST MANAGEMENT AND PROTECTION
Abstract
Blockchain applications have received a lot of attention in recent years. They
bring great benefits and advantages to many different fields. To date, there have
not been any systematic studies that comprehensively looked at current
blockchain-based applications in the forestry sector. This paper examines
blockchain-based applications in the forestry sector. The inferences show that
blockchain has great potential in sustainable forestry, reducing illegal logging,
biodiversity conservation and many other areas in forestry. This review provides
insights into blockchain applications for managers, practitioners, and consultants
interested in forestry. The paper identifies existing research gaps on relevant
topics of blockchain applications in forestry and makes recommendations on
potential future directions for blockchain research in forestry.
