ANTI-WEAR CHARACTERISTICS OF A BLEND OF OIL AND FLY ASH ADDITIVE
Abstract
Improving the lubrication properties of oil is always a concern for both
scientists and industrial oil manufacturers. This study focuses on evaluating the
impact of fly-ash additive on the characteristics of lubricating oil under ASTM
experimental conditions. The results show that adding fly-ash additive to
lubricating oil in a ratio of 0.5% by weight can significantly improve the oil's
anti-wear properties. In these experiments, fly-ash additive helped reduce the
size of scratches on balls, while not affecting the physical and chemical
properties of the oil. This research demonstrates that adding fly-ash as an
additive in lubricating oil can be an effective way to enhance the oil's
performance in terms of anti-wear characteristics and friction reduction.
Additionally, it provides a new perspective for the study and application of fly-
ash additive in industrial lubricating oil.
