Applying GIS technology to build digital data and to creating population map of Khanh Hoa province

Abstract

Geographic maps play an important part in geographical research and teaching. Thus, the application of GIS technology and MapInfo Pro software in creating geographical maps, including local geographic maps, is very necessary for teaching geography. This article focuses on demonstrating important stages of the process of applying GIS technology to digital geographic mapping, including digitizing map scan images, digitizing geographic information layers, integrating sub-maps and additional compliments to digital maps, illustrating and extracting population map of Khanh Hoa province in MapInfo Pro 15.0 software.
