The use of case law in teaching law
Abstract
Despite being relatively unfamiliar in Vietnam, case law has long been taught in law institutions around the world. Especially in countries with common law systems, the analysis of case law is the major method for students to access and master the national legal system. Statute laws are applied in Vietnam and therefore, case law has only been recently recognized as a source of teaching materials. This article aims at assessing the importance of case law, thereby analyzing the need of using case law in teacing laws and other concerns regarding the use of this method.
