TOWARD SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS - THE UNIVERSITY OF DANANG: CURRENT STATUS AND SOLUTIONS
Abstract
This study aims to assess the current status of sustainable development implementation at DUE and to analyse the opportunities and challenges in its transition toward a sustainable university model aligned with contemporary educational trends. The findings indicate that DUE possesses a solid foundation for this transformation, with notable strengths, including effective governance, comprehensive academic quality, growing research capacity, and impactful green initiatives. However, the university still faces several limitations, such as the absence of sustainability performance indicators, weak strategic integration in research, and fragmented environmental data. Based on an analysis of the current situation and a comprehensive SWOT analysis, the study proposes strategic solutions to support DUE in adapting flexibly and gradually enhancing its central role and integration capacity in advancing the “Green University” model in Vietnam and the ASEAN region.
