Global value chain and participation of Vietnamese processing and manufacturing industrial enterprises
Abstract
Since 1986, economic reforms from the Doi Moi program have helped Vietnam develop from one of the poorest countries in the world to a market economy and actively integrate into the world more and more deeply, achieved many important achievements. However, Vietnam's economic development model is still heavily dependent on exports of low value-added products and investment from abroad. In order to increase added value and promote sustainable exports, one of the strategic solutions is to further promote the participation of Vietnamese processing and manufacturing enterprises in the global value chain. The content of the article presents some theoretical bases on the global value chain and gives some analysis of the current situation and issues about the participation of enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry in Vietnam into the global value chain.
