Abstract

1. The industrial status in the southern part of Central Vietnam

The average growth of industrial values in the southern part of Central Vietnam in the 2001-2010 period was 17.06 per cent (based on the 1994 price), or 15.93 per cent higher than the average national level, in which 17.2 per cent was the growth in the 2001-2005 period and 16.92 per cent in the 2006-2010 period.

Topping the list of the growth in the region was Quang Ngai province with 27.5 per cent and lowest growth belonged to Da Nang with 13.72 per cent.

2. Integration and industrial development in the southern part of Central Vietnam

Apart from negative impact of integration, some weaknesses of central and local enterprises which need to be referred to, include an access to the market, limited capital sources, lack of a long term business strategy to develop the market.

Besides the imperfect and inconsistent legal framework, policies and mechanism have also attributed to the poor competitive edge of the enterprises and the products in the region.

3. Restructuring industrial branches in the southern part of Central Vietnam

The southern part of Central Vietnam needs to adjust the industrial structure associated with a seasonal period for development of products.

Developing the industrial branches having a rapid growth and effective competitiveness as well as high efficiency.

Focusing on the development of a clean industry and hi-tech associated with services sector, which are regarded as an advantage for the southern part of Central Vietnam.

Identifying the key industries in the southern part of Central Vietnam to call on the investmet from all economic sectors./.
