How to develop the supporting industry for Vietnam garment and textile sector

Abstract

The textile and garment sector plays an important role in the social and economic development in Vietnam. This sector has recorded high growth in recent years and contributed considerably to the GDP of the country; and it also generates one of Vietnam's key export items. However apart from its achievements, some of its shortcomings, weaknesses and outstanding problems need to be addressed, namely, an imbalance between the textile and garment, and a heavy dependence on the imports of materials.

The fundamental reasons for these are attributed to an absence of an effective supporting industry. The articles is designed to present the status of the supporting industry for textile  and garment sector in Vietnam and some solutions to the problems. The main contents include:
