Psychological difficulties of orphans and proposal for the role of social workers in providing psychological support for orphans
Abstract
This study synthesizes, analyzes, and classifies the psychological difficulties faced by children in special circumstances using a systematic review approach. Based on the analyzed findings, the paper proposes several key roles for social workers in providing psychological support to orphaned children. These roles include assessment and early identification of emotional distress, counseling and therapy facilitation, coordination with caregivers and educational institutions, and advocacy for improved child welfare policies. The study emphasizes the importance of professional social work intervention in fostering psychological resilience, emotional stability, and social integration among orphans.
