  • Hà Đình Hùng

Abstract

Đầm Street, an ancient commercial town in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, once served as a bustling and diverse trade center in the early 20th century. This study synthesizes historical, geographical, and cultural data to analyze the formation, development, and socio-economic roles of Đầm Street and Đầm Market within the feudal and colonial historical context. In addition, the paper elucidates the material and spiritual cultural characteristics of the area, while assessing the current state of its ancient architecture and urban transformation over time. The findings reveal that Đầm Street stands as a typical example of cultural intersection, regional riverine trade development along the Chu River, and the contemporary challenges of preserving Vietnam's traditional urban heritage.
