Minister Chu Dinh Ke through official historical records of the Nguyen Dynasty
Abstract
Chu Dinh Ke (also known as Chau Dinh Ke, 1842–1911) was born in Phu Tho, An Thuy (Le Thuy, Quang Binh) into a family with a long-standing scholarly tradition. According to local records, he inherited an official title and served in various administrative positions, eventually becoming a Minister under the Nguyen Dynasty. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to the regions where he served and later held key positions in several ministries in Hue. Based on reliable sources from the official chronicles of the Nguyen court, this paper aims to shed more light on his life and career, recognizing him as a lesser-known yet notable historical figure in the Nguyen administrative system.
