Quality management in the training of medical staff in Vietnam during the period 1975–1986

  • Nguyễn Thị Dung Huyền

Abstract

The period from 1975 to 1986 marked a challenging yet pivotal phase in the reconstruction of Vietnam's healthcare system. Confronted with severe shortages of medical personnel, the government implemented a range of measures such as expanding short- and medium-term training programs, standardizing curricula, learning from the Soviet Union and other socialist countries, and establishing mechanisms for quality control and output assessment. As a result, the number of trained medical staff increased significantly, meeting the growing demand for healthcare at local levels and easing the burden on central hospitals. This article analyzes the quality management of medical staff training during this period, highlighting both the achievements and challenges within the broader context of post-war reconstruction.
