Abstract

This article clarifi es the concept of national sovereignty during the Nguyễn Dynasty and explores its implications for modern Vietnam. These include reaffi rming the importance of defending independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; establishing a legal basis for protecting maritime and island sovereignty in today's geopolitical climate; and emphasizing the need to combine economic growth with national defense to enhance the country's ability to maintain its sovereignty.
