Con Son Pagoda – an engaged Buddhist heritage in the historical development of the Vietnamese nation

Abstract

Con Son Pagoda is an important Buddhist and cultural hub in Vietnam, embodying the engaged spirit of the Truc Lam Zen School. Over its long history, the pagoda has been closely linked with notable fi gures such as Huyen Quang and Nguyen Trai, representing the seamless blend of spiritual practice and service to the nation. In today's era, Con Son Pagoda serves not only as a signifi cant religious–historical site but also as a lively cultural space that supports moral education, sustainable tourism, and the promotion of humanistic values. This article explores the history and role of Con Son Pagoda, its contributions to engaged Buddhism, and off ers solutions for preserving and promoting this heritage amid international integration.
