The healing needs of the LGBTQ+ community through the practice of worshiping the Three and Four Mothers today

Abstract

Currently, as the worship of the Three and Four Palaces continues to grow, practitioners of Mother Goddess worship are becoming increasingly younger, with many individuals in the LGBTQ+ community turning to this belief system as a means of spiritual healing. This study consists of two parts: fi rst, an analysis of the healing needs of the LGBTQ+ community through the practice of Mother Goddess worship; second, an examination of LGBTQ+ participation in spirit possession rituals within contemporary worship practices. The article employs a Religious Psychology approach, drawing on interviews with practitioners and fi eld observations.
