Abstract
With the development of subaltern criticism, Indian historical and literary researchers focused on Dalit literature – literature written by Dalits or about Dalits – a part of the population belonging to the lowest caste in the Indian caste system. Thus, the presence of Dalit literature in Indian history and society is due to the influence of subaltern criticism with its emphasis on the presence and voice of inferior groups in a certain society.
