The educational and critical value of Korean proverbs containing the element of buffalo/cow (linking with Vietnamese proverbs)

Abstract

This article uses methods of describing and analyzing semantic elements combined with comparison, meta-analysis, literary translation, etc. for a research subject of about 573 units of Korean proverbs. The value of educating and imparting experience of Korean proverbial units with the element of buffalo/cow is reflected in the upholding of human morality, moral lessons, attitudes, and productive labor experiences that was extracted and handed down by the ancients. Additionally, the value of criticizing the evils, lashing out on the negative side, and satirizing bad habits are also clearly and deeply expressed. The link with Vietnamese proverbs and folk songs containing the element of buffalo/ cow also shows that there are many similarities in the language and culture of the two countries.
