Current situation and solutions for implementing conditions and processes in building smart tourism destinations in Vietnam

Abstract

Using a coordinated and integrated approach of both theoretical and practical research methods, this article provides an in-depth assessment of the conditions and processes for building smart tourism destinations in Vietnam. The evaluation results indicate that most of the selected destinations do not yet meet the required conditions for becoming smart tourism destinations as well as have not developed and implemented the required processes for building smart tourism destinations. The study also identifies key reasons for these shortcomings. From these findings, nine comprehensive, effective, and feasible solutions are proposed to establish the necessary conditions and processes for smart tourism development in Vietnam.
