Organizing activities in teaching and learning English speaking skills at Ha Long University
Abstract
The study focuses on investigating the current status of organizing teaching activities for English speaking skills and piloting a set of supporting materials for the Listening–Speaking 4 course at Ha Long University. Through questionnaire surveys and interviews with 22 lecturers and 40 major students, the results indicate that the implementation of these activities remains insufficiently systematic and has not achieved the expected effectiveness. On that basis, the study developed a system of detailed guidelines and conducted an experimental implementation in Semester II of the 2024 – 2025 academic year. The empirical results recorded positive feedback from both lecturers and students regarding the feasibility as well as the practical effectiveness of the materials in improving learners’ communicative competence.
