Keywords:

Abstract
With the success of the August Revolution in 1945, President Hồ Chí Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, proclaimed the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. From that point on, modern Vietnamese diplomacy was officially established, playing a critical role in resisting French colonialism, American imperialism, safeguarding territorial sovereignty in the Southwestern and Northern border areas, and gradually integrating more deeply and proactively into the global political and economic landscape. This paper outlines Vietnam’s diplomatic achievements over 80 years, divided into five phases: 1945–1954, 1954–1975, 1975–1991, 1991–2001, and 2001-2025.
