Hồ Chí Minh’s Thought on Forecasting and Seizing Revolutionary Opportunities in the August Revolution and Its Application Today

Abstract

Under the leadership of the Party and President Hồ Chí Minh, the Vietnamese people rose in unison to carry out the victorious August General Uprising of 1945. The success of the August Revolution demonstrated the Party’s and President Hồ Chí Minh’s sharp political vision, correctness, and consistency in determining strategic direction, goals, force building, and revolutionary methods. President Hồ Chí Minh made many brilliant and accurate predictions; one of the most remarkable was his forecast of the right moment, his ability to seize and utilize the revolutionary opportunity to lead the entire Vietnamese nation in launching the General Uprising and achieving victory in the August Revolution of 1945. This article analyzes and clarifies one of President Hồ Chí Minh’s precise predictions: “In 1945 - Vietnam will gain independence.”
