On the Origin of Ly Cong Uan (As Reflected through the Mân Root and the Title of Hien Khanh Vuong)
Abstract
On the basis of the affirmation that Emperor Ly Thai To was by no mean a bastard, this article discusses further the following points:
- A hypothesis about a homeland relating closely to the areas of Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh, where Hien Khanh Vuong was active during the late Pre-Le Dynasty.
- The opinion that Ly Cong Uan was originally from the Mân (Min) ethnic could only be found in the Chinese sources while no Vietnamese documents mentioned about this.
- Another hypothesis about the homeland of Hien Khanh Vuong.
