National Solidarity in the August Revolution and the Implementation of Ethnic Policy in the Contemporary Era
Abstract
In the cause of national construction and defense, national solidarity and the building of a united community have been guiding principles for all strategies of national development. From its founding to the present, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State have consistently upheld the core strategy of ensuring equality among all ethnic groups, strengthening harmonious relations, and successfully fostering great national unity. This was the decisive factor that enabled the Vietnamese people to achieve the historic victory of the August Revolution in 1945, transforming Vietnam from a semi-feudal colony into an independent state. Continuing this legacy, under the Party’s leadership, the people have achieved remarkable feats in both nation-building and national defense. In the current context, to sustain national solidarity as a vital spiritual value and foundation of strength, ethnic policy must aim at fostering cohesion among all ethnic groups and with the wider national community, reinforcing national consciousness, and building a unified Vietnamese nation.
