Electronic banking services: opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese commercial banks

Abstract

    Electronic banking services (E-Banking) appeared from the 40s of the twentieth century in the US, starting with payment card services. Until the 80s the term "electronic banking service" was used popularly in the world. In Vietnam, the Electronic Transaction Law, effective from March 2006, is an important legal basis for the establishment and development of electronic banking services. The article introduces the status of e-banking services in our country, the benefits, successes as well as its limitations, opportunities and challenges for commercial banks.
