Contribution of science and technology to increase labor productivity of Vietnam’s 8 key industries

Abstract

The article is part of the results of the national scientific research project “Researching, building productivity assessment methods, information collection, monitoring, matching systems and proposed solutions for improving productivity for industry and trade enterprises” implemented by the National Center for Socio-Economic Information and Forecast. Accordingly, the econometric model is used to evaluate the contribution of technological progress in increasing labor productivity of 8 key industries in the period 2011-2018, using annual Vietnamese enterprise survey data by the General Statistics Office. Research results show that, in the period 2011-2018, technological progress of 8 key industries increased from -3.59% to 8.55% and contributed from -47.32% to 154.81 % on labor productivity growth of each industry.
